PPD global-PPD Global expands portfolio with Courvoisier cognac

In a strategic move to capture growing demand within the super-premium category, PPD Global took over the exclusive distribution for Courvoisier Cognac in Romania, Croatia, and Slovenia. The addition of this iconic brand consolidates PPD Global’s position as a premier beverage distributor in the region.

Courvoisier, a brand with a history spanning almost 200 years in cognac production, is recognised worldwide for the quality and refinement of its spirits. Through this partnership, PPD Global aims to bring the rich tradition of Courvoisier cognac even closer to consumers. The collaboration will ensure greater availability of Courvoisier products on the local markets, thanks to the extensive network of commercial partners that PPD Global has built up over more than 25 years of operation, and will offer new opportunities for local consumers to familiarise themselves with the art of cognac tasting.

Vincent Chappe, Global Ambassador for Courvoisier, Maison Bisquit and Dubouché, was invited to Bucharest to hold a specialised masterclass and speak about the history and uniqueness of the Courvoisier brand, synonymous with French elegance.

Founded by Felix Courvoisier in the heart of the French Cognac region (Jarnac) in 1828, the Courvoisier brand has built an impressive global presence, whilst retaining its contemporary essence. It was the preferred choice of prominent figures such as Napoleon Bonaparte, as well as many artists and trendsetters of our time. Furthermore, Courvoisier was an official supplier to European royal courts, including the British Royal Family.

Courvoisier offers a perfect balance between tradition and innovation. Its meticulous production process relies on double distillation and a careful selection of grapes from the Cognac region of France. The cognac is then matured for up to 25 years to achieve its signature profile.

“People active in the cognac industry are always working for future generations. It all comes down to time, heritage and carrying on the tradition. I like to say that when you finish a glass of Courvoisier cognac, that drink no longer exists. It is a premium and unique product, a piece of history in a bottle,” said Vincent Chappe.

Courvoisier is available in three varieties: Courvoisier VS (Very Special), Courvoisier VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) and Courvoisier XO (Extra Old).

Courvoisier VS is a young cognac, aged for at least two years, bursting with notes of fresh fruit and a slightly floral character, and is perfect for sophisticated cocktails or for enjoying neat. Courvoisier VSOP is aged for between 4 and 10 years, offering a richer and more balanced profile, with aromas of ripe fruit, toasted almonds, jasmine and subtle oak, and is recommended to be enjoyed neat or with an ice cube.

Last but not least, Courvoisier XO is a premium cognac, aged between 11 and 25 years, with a complex aromatic profile, notes of candied orange, crème brûlée and orris, and is best enjoyed neat, to fully appreciate its complexity.

Cognac has been, and continues to be, a key pillar in the world of fine spirits. Due to its mature and complex nature, it is often appreciated by connoisseurs, but may seem less accessible to those who prefer light and approachable cocktails.

Courvoisier joins a prestigious portfolio of world-class spirits at PPD Global, including Campari, Aperol, Cinzano, Wild Turkey, and Appleton Estate, further establishing the company as a curator of refined consumer experiences.
